All homework sheets, copybook notes, quizzes, and classwork sheets need to be revised.

• Conversation (Questions and answers: name, age, birthday, condition/state, Nationality, Country, Height, Hair, Eyes, Brothers and Sisters): You have to be able to ask the question and answer it in the first person (je) and in the third person (il/elle).

• Verbes avoir and être and what we use them for (having something, age, describing) + The negative form of verbes avoir and être (ne... pas/ n'...pas)

• School objects vocabulary (including the articles un/une/le/la/l'/les/des)

• Adjectives (Question: Comment es-tu? and answers with adjectives)

• Colors (féminin and masculin)

• The possessive {‘s} (de)

• Les nombres + les jours + les mois (de 0 à 31, ow to say 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 1000 and 2018) + how to write La date (the order: day + date + month)

• The order of the noun and the color (noun+color = le cahier noir)

• La famille: vocabulary (members)

WRITING TOPICS
You should be able to write a paragraph to present yourself including your name, age, birthday, nationality, country, height, eye color, hair texture/length/color, adjectives. In the first person (Je)

You should also be able to write a paragraph to present someone else. In the third person (Il/Elle)
You should be able to write a conversation (question and answer) including name, age, birthday, nationality, country, height, eye color, hair, adjectives.

You should be able to write a paragraph in which you say where you live, in what kind of house, with who. You should be able to describe what is on the ground floor and what is on the first floor. You should be able to describe the different things in your room including color, size, and prepositions to locate them (like the text of Anne-Marie).

La Maison d'Anne-Marie

Partie Un

Je m'appelle Anne-Marie et j'habite à Montréal, une grande ville au Canada. J'habite avec mes parents et ma soeur dans une petite maison.

Au rez-de-chaussée, il y a quatre pièces: une petite entrée et une grande cuisine, où on prépare le dîner et où on mange à midi. Le soir, on mange dans la salle à manger, qui est assez petite. il y a aussi le salon. Mes parents regardent la télé dans le salon, mais moi, je préfère regarder la télé dans ma chambre.

Partie Deux

Au premier étage, il y a cinq pièces: ma chambre, la chambre de mes parents, la chambre de ma soeur et la salle de bains. Il y a aussi le bureau de mes parents, où ils travaillent sur l'ordinateur. Ma chambre est très petite, mais très confortable. Les murs sont blancs, et la moquette, la porte et les rideaux sont rouges. Mon lit est sous la fenêtre. Il y a une armoire, une commode et une chaise. Ma télé est sur l'étagère, avec mes livres et mes CD. Sur les murs, j'ai des posters de mes footballeurs préférés et des musiciens de rap.

Devant la maison, il y a un assez grand jardin, où je joue au football, avec mes copains.

• Read the passage carefully. Even if you don't understand all the words (yet!), try to guess from the context the general meaning of the text. What is this text about? What is it describing?

• Look up the meaning in French of the words highlighted in yellow and write them all down in your copybook.

• Categorize the words into:
  1. prépositions (prepositions),
  2. pièces dans la maison (rooms in the house),
  3. meubles et objets de maison (home furniture and objects),
  4. actions (verbs + activity).

- Les differents meubles (furniture) dans la chambre: le lit, le mur, l'armoire, etc...

- How to write a paragraph saying where you live, in what kind of house, with who, describe what is on the ground floor, and what is on the first floor. Describe your room and what is in it (the bed, the desk, the chair, etc...) using colors, size and prepositions (in front of, on top of, under....).

Attention grades 7, 8, 9 and 10!

Including technology in the classroom is mandatory as per the educational standards we follow at ACIS.

Therefore, for our French classes, students are required to download an app called DUO LINGO on their mobile phones, laptops, or IPads to work on daily in the classroom and at home (minimum 30 minutes a day), and bring them to class.

Using the app is mandatory; it will count for 20% of quarter 4's grade as a quarter project.

Downloading the app requires internet, but using it to practice can be done offline. 

By next Sunday, April 29th, every student must have downloaded and used the app.

Students will be quizzed on the content regularly.

- If you do not have everything in your copybook, or if you forget your copybook the day of the copybook check, you will get a 0. NO EXCEPTIONS.

2. On a coloured chart, stick large images of the 7 animals you have chosen.
3. Write the title of the animal under each image in French.
4. Write a small paragraph in the third person in which you say the animal's name (you come up with a funny name), his/her age, birthday, nationality, country, height, hair color/texture/length, eye color and 2 adjectives about his/her personality.
